Remediation Reinforcement

At a basic level, remediation (or reteaching) means “teaching again” content that students previously failed to learn.

Remedial education makes learning fun and interesting by going beyond memorization. It takes complex concepts and breaks them down into easier chunks, so students can understand them better. For example, imagine learning fractions by using colorful shapes and objects.

This is the series that is usually referred to as the Pink; also known as the short phonetic series. The emphasis here is introducing children to words that are constructed from three letters or less which contain short vowel sounds.

Facing academic challenges can lead to diminished self-confidence in learners. However, Remedial Teaching Boosts Confidence among children with disability, focusing on positive reinforcement.

The approach of recognizing and celebrating even small achievements helps students understand that progress, no matter how small, is a step towards success. Focusing on the journey instead of just the end result helps students feel good about themselves, which boosts their confidence in academics and encourages them to have a growth mind-set

A continuation of the pink reading series, the Montessori blue reading series continues to use only phonetic words with short vowels. However, the phonetic words in the blue series are 4- to 5-letters in length. The Child is learning to put more complex sounds together to make longer words.

Remedial Teaching addresses this gap by offering individualized attention to each student. This methodology understands and appreciates the uniqueness of each learner, tailoring teaching methods to suit individual needs. By focusing on the learner’s specific strengths and weaknesses, Remedial Teaching ensures that every student feels seen, understood, and supported in their educational journey.

The green series introduces children to words with phonograms. Unlike blends, in which you can hear the sound of each letter, phonograms are letter combinations that create a new sound.

The green series in Montessori is a very important stage for the child. The child acquires the knowledge to read naturally by learning the various sounds that two letters make together. The child cannot move onto the green reading material if he has not completed the pink and blue reading series.
